 PURPOSE/AIM

To learn how to leverage new open-source, standards-based, IHE-compliant software to enable the clinical review of diagnostic imaging across multiple facilities participating in regional or national health information exchange (HIE) initiatives including RHIOs, the Nationwide Health Information Network (NHIN), and cross-enterprise teaching/research

 CONTENT ORGANIZATION

The exhibit will present and demonstrate a new open source client/server software for image enabling RHIOs. The exhibit will cover the software's architecture, implementation, features, use in an actual RHIO (the Philadelphia Health Information Exchange), IHE-compliant interoperability using cross-enterprise document sharing (XDS), FDA review, open source availability and licensing, and potential extensibility by the open source community.

 SUMMARY

Learn how the open source Xebra software enables RHIOs to finally provide clinical end users with a lightweight, single application for efficiently viewing and manipulating diagnostic images over the Internet where these studies originate from multiple different facilities with different PACS vendors. Explore how Xebra includes features expected by today’s imaging-intensive clinicians, cross-platform compatibility, IHE XDS-I compliance, and support for HIPAA-compliant security policies.
